Course Description:
Identifies specific screening and assessment tools to ensure appropriate program referral within the criminal justice system. Also provides an overview of the criminal justice setting and the special issues addressing this population. Includes ethical issues relating to working with the substance abusing adult offender.
Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this course the participant will be able to:
1) Identify specific screening and assessment tools for adults in the criminal justice system
2) Describe the criminal justice setting and evaluate screening, assessment and treatment planning that should occur
3) Explain the special issues addressing this population and relevant incorporation into the treatment plan
4) Have knowledge of and explain what ethical issues relate to the substance abusing adult offender
