This course will cover a 'better practices' model in addressing treatment of youth who use tobacco and identifies intervention approaches that are practical and effective.
Course Objectives
1. Describe the health consequences of tobacco use for youth age 12-19 while discussing national goals for reducing youth tobacco use.
2. Outline important issues that should be considered when deciding whether to establish a youth tobacco-use cessation intervention, and identify practical suggestions for delivering and evaluating such an intervention.
3. Review specific examples of youth cessation interventions that have been chosen and implemented by public health and school programs.
4. Analyze research findings on youth tobacco use and cessation and identify the need for further research in this area.
